Black Filmmaker Foundation

Established in 1978, the Black Filmmaker Foundation (BFF) is a non-profit organization that develops and administers programs that assist emerging filmmakers and build audiences for their work. For more than two decades, BFF has played a pivotal role in the emergence of the contemporary black film movement.

BFF administers dvRepublic.com, an on-line community which hosts public discussion and political critiques of film and television programming. dvRepublic.com is the home of the BFF DV Lab, which partners with filmmakers of color to develop, market, distribute, and webcast socially-concerned, entertainment-driven digital films.
